Fall Planting Guide for Front Yard Shrubs

Planting your front yard gardens is easier when you know what works best.  Also, fall is the best time on the Gulf Coast to plant and landscape.

“Fall is the best time to plant because the root systems have 6-7 months to establish themselves before the heat returns,” recommends Todd Farber, Horticulturist and Owner of Garden Guy.

Cooler weather on the Gulf Coast helps plants establish themselves for years of beauty.  With the choices below and the addition of utilizing our favorite irrigator, Southwest Irrigation Systems, you are guaranteed to have lovely shrubs in your front yard for a very long time.

Let’s see the best front yard landscaping plants for Zone 9a this fall.

Low, and slow-growing, Indian Hawthorne is the perfect shrub for sunny spots in your front yard landscape. It has a naturally rounded growing habit and needs little pruning.

You will love the clusters of pink or white blooms each spring. Birds and wildlife love the blue-colored berries it produces too.   It is also tough and can take hot temperatures.
